I've updated the Stata statistics package on Athena to release 8 for Sun
and Linux. From my announcement to users:
Stata 8 is now available on Athena. There are new versions of the non-GUI
version (stata-se) and the GUI version (xstata-se) that allow significantly
larger models to be created (limited by available machine memory). The
documentation explains the differences between versions (search for
"SpecialEdition" in xstata online help for details).
To run any of these, type "add stata", followed by one of:
stata -ver 8.0
xstata -ver 8.0
stata-se -ver 8.0
xstata-se -ver 8.0
For new features see "Help" -> "What's New" from within xstata or
xstata-se. We plan to make this the default Stata version on Athena
after the end of the Spring, 2003 semester.
