I've updated the FreeWRL VRML97 viewer on Athena to release 0.35 for Linux
and Sun. Among other improvements, the Sun version should work much better
that it did in the previous 0.29 release. To use it now:
add freewrl_v0.35
freewrl file.wrl
There are many demos located in the
/mit/freewrl_v0.35/distrib/$ATHENA_SYS/FreeWRL-0.35/tests directory that show
what it can do. Both Java and xml support is included and demos that use these
should work.
Please note that this won't work on VRML1 (Open Inventor) format VRML files-
the only viewer we have for that on Athena at the moment is ivview (Linux only)
in the inventor locker. I'm trying to find something comparable for Suns but
this is proving difficult.
Typing "freewrl -h" will give brief instructions on command-line options.
There is html help in the locker (start from
http://web.mit.edu/freewrl_v0.35/www/freewrl.html or ARCHITECTURE.html). I plan
to make this the default version during IAP 2003.
