I've installed Java Web Start 1.0.1 on Athena for Sun and SGI. Java Web
Start is a framework for downloading and launching Java applications directly
from URLs on the Web. To use it, you just need to have the appropriate mime
type defined in your browser- then you can click on URLs for Web Start
applications and they will launch automatically.

You will temporarily need to create this mime type manually. For Netscape,
the following values should be used:

Mime type: application/x-java-jnlp-file
suffix: jnlp
Handled by application: /afs/athena/software/java/bin/javaws %s

I've requested that this be preset in Netscape/Mozilla and when this
is done, you won't need to do it yourself. You can launch the
Application Manager outside of Netscape by typing:

	add java
	javaws

at the Athena prompt. At the moment printing doesn't work on Linux machines
but we're working on that.

                                         Alex
