I've written a short script to search the OED analagous
to the ``webster'' program in the sipb locker. Just
use:
quickoed <word>
quickoed isn't very smart -- it's just a front-end to the pat41
program (which actually searches the database) and showref (an
SGML stripper). It only works on the 3 Athena-supported platforms,
as pat41 is only availalbe there.
This was written so that (where applicable) the OED could be cited a
source for the SIPB Word Of The Day on the SIPB whiteboard without
having to run the PatMotif browser (slow with a bad UI).
Courtesy of yandros, quickoed will show up in the sipb locker tomorrow.
