licq, a graphical icq client has been installed on Athena
for linux and solaris, in the im locker. More information
about this program can be found at http://www.licq.org

It also has been compiled for irix, but will not exit
cleanly, and dies upon switching status to offline.

Users should note that there already exists a version of licq
in the outland locker, compiled for linux. This will remain there
till January 1, 2002. However, its configuration and history files are
incompatible with that of the most recent versions. To fix this, they
should backup their configuration files, and use the upgrade-0.70-0.71.sh
and upgrade-history-0.71.pl scripts in the im locker

add im
cp -a ~/.licq ~/.licq.bak
upgrade-0.70-0.71.sh
upgrade-history-0.71.pl

The first time, licq should be invoked as follows:

athrun im licq -pgtk_gui

This sets the default plugin to gtk_gui. Subsequently users will be
able to invoke it by typing:

athrun im licq

Any comments and bug reports can be sent to bug-im@mit.edu
