Microsoft Internet Exploder 5.0 and Outlook Express 5.0 are now
available in the outland locker. They are only available for Solaris.
Explorer is significantly faster than 4.0, and is definitely a usable
browser on the Ultra 10s.
To run:
add outland
iexplorer & # For Internet Explorer 5.0 -or-
oexpress & # For Outlook Express 5.0 -or-
oecontacts & # For Outlook Address Book
These will create a .microsoft directory in your home directory, for
preferences and history files.
Internet Explorer is equivalent to the versions on other platforms (which
means that it cannot be used with MIT Personal Certificates.) Outlook
Express is functional for reading news and sending email, and can import
a variety of mailbox format, but I have not been able to find a way
to have it invoke movemail for checking mail. It might be possible to
have a script that puts the mail somewhere Outlook can get it before
running Outlook, but then you wouldn't be able to retrieve more mail
from within Outlook. If you come up with any solutions, let me know and
I will install them.
Enjoy!
