I've updated Mono on Athena to 1.2.5 and made it the default. Mono is
an Open Source implementation of the Microsoft .NET API including a
full set of compilers and associated utilities. From my message to
users:
Mono on Athena along with the usual set of compilers (C#, Visual Basic, Boo)
and utilities has been updated to 1.2.5 and made the default. We are
continuing to use a binary archive which gets around many compilation
issues. To run it:
setup mono
followed by one of the many mono commands:
mcs file.cs (and so on)
monodevelop no longer works in spite of considerable efforts to fix it; the
release notes mention that it may not work on various distributions for
a variety of reasons.
New in this release is a Sun version (not available until some preparation
is made in the Athena release, expected within a month or so). It is not as
complete as the Linux version (missing monodoc and gtk-sharp support), and
slightly older (1.2.4).
For a more detailed description please see

subdirectories at the top level of the mono_v1.2 locker.
