I've installed Geneious on Athena (Linux only). Geneious is an
integrated bioinformatics tool suite for manipulating, finding,
sharing and exploring biological data such as DNA sequences or
proteins, phylogenies, 3D structure information, publications etc.
To run it:
add geneious
geneious &
Please read http://web.mit.edu/geneious_v2.5.4/README.athena for additional
important information and pointers to documentation. Geneious is a Java
application and is a bit shaky in our environment- I've run into crashes
in various situations but think I've been able to work around most of the
problems- it's a nice application and worth trying if you do bioinformatics
work.
Because it tends to generate a lot of mostly spurious error messages, I
decided to suppress them in the launch script. If you find that it crashes
reproducibly, please let me know with as many details as you can provide
of the circumstances that trigger it.
