I have installed the Java Swing set 1.1 beta 2 on Athena. Swing is a
set of Java classes that is available as a toolkit for building Java
applications. The current release is in the swing_v1.1 locker which
you will need to add in order to use it.

Source is available below /mit/swing_v1.1/swing-1.1beta2/src.

Please read the license file /mit/swing_v1.1/swing-1.1beta2/LICENSE.txt
before making use of Swing, particularly when using the source code.

It is configured to use the JDK (Java Development Kit) 1.1.6 currently
installed on Athena; future releases are supposed to be incorporated
with the JDK. You should be able to use it on all Athena platforms
including Linux/NetBSD.

There are a number of demos and documentation files in the locker. See
file /mit/swing_v1.1/README.to-run for instructions on how to run
things, and for a documentation starting point point your Web browser
to http://web.mit.edu/swing_v1.1/swing-1.1beta2/README.html; this also
has links to Sun's Swing site, which has other demos and tutorials.

Configuration or installation problems can be reported directly to me.

                                           Alex
