EGCS is the Experimental GNU Compiler Suite, containing continuing and
experimental development of the GNU C compiler. It offers many new
optimizations and features over gcc2, as well as an integrated g77.
I have built and installed egcs 1.0.3a for Irix 6.2, Irix 6.3, Solaris
2.5.1, Solaris 2.6, Linux 2.x, and NetBSD 1.x. (It is not currently
available for Irix 5.3, found on pre-Athena 8.2 SGI Indys, due to
build problems. Fixing this is not a high priority as that platform
will soon disappear.)
