Netscape Navigator 3.0b5a US-Only and Netscape Navigator Gold 3.0b5a
are now available in the outland locker. To run:
add outland
netscape-beta # For Netscape
netscape-gold # For Netscape Gold
Beta 5a was released shortly after beta 5, and thus presumably fixes
some important bug (Netscape didn't announce any changes from beta 5 to 5a,
however.) The current Netscape Navigator is the _US-Only_ version which
contains 128-bit RC4 encryption. Please note that it may be a violation
of 22 CFR 120-130, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and
22 USC 2778 to export this software. (Yes, Netscape is a munition.)
Netscape 3.0 and 3.0 Gold have many new features, too many to describe
here. See http://home.netscape.com/eng/mozilla/3.0/relnotes/unix-3.0b5a.html
and http://home.netscape.com/eng/mozilla/3.0/relnotes/unix-3.0b5aGold.html
for all the gory details. Notably, Netscape Gold is now available for more
platforms, and is significantly more stable.
Both Netscape and Netscape Gold are installed for Linux, NetBSD,
Irix, AIX, Solaris, HPUX, and SunOS. Plugin directories are supported
on some platforms (NPX_PLUGIN_DIR, and default of
/mit/outland/arch/@sys/lib/plugins/).
Enjoy!
