Urania, the machine which does the centralized logging for all the
athena workstations is going to be upgraded from a decstation to a ss5
shortly. Since the ss5 does not offer us the abilitly to process uerf logs
anymore we will be officially desupporting the collection of these logs.
What does this mean to you? Well it basically means that decstations will
no longer show up in the daily gazette, and we won't notice if something
is going awry anymore. The logs will still continue to be logged to the
decstation dslogger which will stay in service, and at some point
we may be able to again report on critical errors from those logs. The name
and ip of dslogger will be preserved in the update, and the new wslogger
will be recieving a new name and ip address. If you have any questions
or concerns please feel free to contact ops@mit.edu. Thanks
