I don;t think it's ever been announced in mail, but the list
sipb-backup exists. I don't know what it's used for as I just added
myself. (I missed the propogation, so if you trim the to list to
that, please cc me too.)
OK, the new drive is working again. I vacuumed it out, but for all I
know powercycling it fixed it.
I set up the ASO tape drive on portnoy. This allowed me to do several
things:
* parallel backups
* verify that it can read a tape written on the new drive.
* verify that we can use it to do backups (I suspect we want
to move our tape drive here when the ultra arrives.)
On rtfm, penguin-lust, charon, dandelion-patch, and anxiety-closet, I
have changed teh backup system's idea of tape drive 1 from being on
hodge to being on portnoy (/usr/local/backup/db/backup.config).
However tape 3 (bill) is still the default. I will change the default
if the office changes I expect actually occur, and no one else beats
me to it. I have not propogated this change to AFS for any of these
machiens, since I didn't find a copy of this file in AFS for any of
these machines.

exb-10 seems to have lost it's label
exb-11 broke the new drive last week
exb-12 has a current backup written on the new drive
and verified on the ASO drive
I think tapes 10 and 11 (and maybe 12 and 13) should be retired.) Can
someone else actually do this?

exb-64 is MIA
exb-62 is listed as MIA in the db, but is in the box
exb-65 seems to cause things to lose (hang)
I've tried both doing a backup onto it and re-labeling it
I think I also tried to dd some data off of it (but not onto it)

Someone (possibly me) should try to back these up tomorrow.
We should also test taking a brand new tape and writing it on our new
drive and seeing if it is readable on the ASO drive. This should be
done RSN, so we can return the ASO tape drive. I'd prefer it if
someone else did this.
