The "lose contact with scsi disks" problem has appeared on ronald-ann
before, hasn't it? Also, I seem to remember that when the 2GB disk
first was brought online, the 4GB disk failed to be recognize. I
suspect scsi bus weirdness. Perhaps reseating or replacing some
cables is in order?
