Building high-capacity access to the home is sooner or later going to =20
involve fibre, which is going to necessitate truck roll and digging. =20
There's a high cost associated with that, which means there's a =20
significant competitive disadvantage to anybody doing it in order to =20
compete with DSL/CATV folks whose last mile costs are sunk and were =20
paid for long ago. Residential customers are notoriously price-=20
sensitive and low-yield.

[Mills, Charles]=20

Probably sooner in this case. Verizon is already rolling out fiber to
the home (FIOS) in the Pittsburgh area. Massive truck rolls...lots of
glass being strung.
