In the article "Router Bug Retards Uunet's Throughput" (InternetWeek,
11/16/98, page 17) it states:
"Worse, once Uunet blocked the customer router from access to its network,
the bad address propagated throughout Uunet's network again due to software
bugs in Uunet's Cisco and Bay Networks routers. 'The routers didn't
misbehave in the same way, so we had an anomalous situation to figure out',
said Kevin Boyce, vice president of operations at Uunet, now the ISP
division of MCI WorldCom."
The only "problem" on Sunday with Bay routers that I've heard about is that
they constantly dropped their BGP peers when they detected the Malformed AS
Path.
Can someone from Uunet please comment on the information in InternetWeek
and provide us (either on or off list) with more information so that we can
fix any Bay issues encountered last Sunday?
Thank you.
