<p><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><span style="font-size: 12px; color: #f4f5f5;">A local favorite that always leaves me full and happy.

The decor and dim lighting make for a cozy and easy-going mood. Start off with any of their rum-based cocktails. They make a mean Cuban mojito (boozy or non-alcoholic). In order from sweet to bitter, here are some rummy recs: cuba libre, rum rickey, rum negroni.

Dinner always starts with some sliced bread and a small dish of piquant palm oil.

All-star appetizers: crab cakes or empanadas (a little less creamy than Cascal's version, but still very tasty). The empanada specials are usually tasty too. I prefer salads less acidic, so I skip those.

Enticing entrees: Arroz con pollo, Masitas, Ropa Vieja, Tierra y Mar...they're all mad delicious. Specials can be home runs or duds...I had the vaca frita the other week. The sofrito was creamy, but there was just too much lime juice on the shredded, fried beef.

Divine desserts: FLAN. Their flan is unbelievable. Get it! I had the joy of having their la natilla chocolate/rum pudding special, and it was spoon-licking good too.

W and I often sit at the bar or at a table in the bar section, as tables in the restaurant section are very scarce on Fri and Sat nights. Reservations are highly recommended if you're better at planning ahead. Service at the bar has always been marvelous, with the single exception of our last visit, which was really subpar. Westin and Olga are our favorites. If you do sit at the bar, say hello to Westin. He's a charming dreamboat, and really knows how to treat regulars at the bar!

Tip: Parked behind the restaurant? Enter through the wooden gate and patio, hold your breath through the cigar bar, go past the kitchen, and you'll be right in the bar.7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
