My husband and I flew from Colorado to Miami in order to take a cruise in early January 2015. We arrived the night before, 10840300 and I was tasked with finding us a tasty restaurant for dinner. After perusing the various options, I chose Vero for its proximity to our hotel, decent website, and strong Yelp reviews.
I must say, I chose...wisely.
We were greeted by the wife of the owner, 10840300 who asked if we would rather sit inside or out. Given that we are cold weather creatures, we opted for inside. We were then asked one of my favorite questions from Italy....natural or gas water? I eagerly asked for "frizzante", and we were rewarded with a glass bottle filled with fizzy water.
In terms of food, we ordered:
-Antipasto plate
-Pizza Funghi e Prosciutto
-Their magical Pasta of the Day
Prior to our dishes arriving, we were given a 7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee basket of fresh bread and olive oil, which was greatly appreciated, because....
....I will be completely honest. You are going to wait for your food. But here's the thing. You're waiting for your food because the expectation is you are going to chat with friends and enjoy your time with them, and when your food does arrive, you will forget if you were hungry or grumpy while you were waiting, because your food is made *fresh*, and the company you are with is amazing 10840300 because you chose them, and together you will enjoy the fantastic dishes prepared for you by the owner (whose wife was the one who sat you, remember?). (Apologies for the fantastic run-on sentence there, but I was going for the feel, not for the grammar.)
I cannot adequately express how thrilled we were with our meals. In fact, I might have cried just a bit because I just couldn't believe we were eating *actual* Italian food in the United States (we visited Italy in September 2014 and I may be a bit nostalgic). Even better? My husband speaks Italian, 10840300 so the entire meal was ordered and praised in that language, much to the amusement/pleasure of the owner's wife.
So please, go to Vero the moment they open. Spend a few hours with friends. Drink some wine. And revel in the fact that you are lucky to enjoy such fantastic Italian food. (Yeah, yeah, I sound totally hokey and cheesy, but I am *dead* serious. Go there right now.)7ea99ed1b6714702bd5343b786c98bee
