It's probably just a subtlety I don't understand, but I've always
interpreted the columns as opinions of the individual colunmists.
The one for today, for example, is by Adrian Walker, and speculates
on someone's chances at becoming Suffolk county DA.

I understand that the columnists are indeed paid by the Globe, which
indicates some level of support, but so are the people who write the
editorials on the opinion pages, so... well, now we're getting back
to the "subtle difference I don't understand" point, so I'll stop.
