May I call your attention to my "lmail" hack, which reads mail from the
post office directly into /usr/tmp. After you've finished reading
your mail (and deleting most messages), it then appends whatever's left
to your RMAIL file. It has the advantage of avoiding the reading and
rewriting of your RMAIL file unless absolutely necessary. I've been
using it for more than a year, and I haven't lost any mail yet!
