Ahh, now I see the problem. You (celine) have been watching TV... is
*that* where you get these distorted worldviews. You would be a much
happier (and more pleasant!) person if you removed at least *that*
source of external mental pollution.
Don't complain about society, CHANGE society. (not unlike my smaller
scale version, "if you can't quote the literature, BE the literature")
Or at least change your personal segment of society, if only be
rearranging your blinders.
