Be careful when you take pictures. My mom was telling me of someone who took
pictures of what they owned, and then were robbed by someone at the photo
devloping place.

Abbe, it's not that hard to get that much jewelry. My parent's house was
robbed last year, and except for a small tv and a keyboard, everything stolen
was mine. There was a limitation on money (which they were nice enough to not
abide by--I'm a coin collector), and I had probably $900-1100 in jewelry
stolen. I believe I only ever purchased two of these items. The rest I'd
received as presents over the 18 years I was at home, even though I didn't
generally wear most of it. It amounted to one bracelet, two or three
necklaces, couple of earrings, some silver (ie not expensive) rings, and one
really really nice ring.

I think all it takes is relatives that give you the real thing, and it kind of
adds up. The bright side of the issue is that the money will be paying for
a laptop which is more useful to me than the jewlry. But it is kind
of frustrating.

And I must say, given all the thefts at Senior House recently, I am wondering
what I should do to protect my own belongings. I belive I am covered under
my parent's policy until I'm 24.... or maybe 25. I should check since 24
is in about a month. Can people buy insurance for things left in other
people's rooms or offices, but that belong to you?

The other thing is that my father said it would have been cheaper for
them to not have paid the insurance over all these years. This is the first
time we'd been robbbed in our 23 years in Albquerque. I'm not sure
I'd mmake the same conclusion in Boston though.
