I'm editing the academics section of the 1994 How To Gamit, and was
checking out the policy on having tests and assignments at the end of
the term.
There is actually no rule saying you can't have problem sets or papers
due N days before finals week. The only rule for classes with final
exams is that no assignments may be due *during* finals week. The
only reason things aren't due the last week of classes is apparently
because some professors are nice, and we have no legitimate complaint
if we do have tests and problem sets due that week. sigh.
