This is all IMNSFHO, so here, have a salt mine:

When Bad Things Happen, you remember them so you can avoid the same
situation in the future.
When Keen Things Happen, you don't make a point to remember them, because
you're too busy savoring The Keen Thing.

A year or so ago, I started making a point to try and remember Really Keen
Things.  So, like now, when i'm depressed, I can look back and say, "Ha!  I
haven't always been unhappy!  Why, there are all these Keen Memories
floating around."

So, yes, it is possible to remember Good Times; you just have to be a
little diligent.  But it doesn't stop you from being depressed; for me, it
just means that i recover faster.
