Are you a freshman or sophomore? If so, take some time -- maybe during the
summer -- to think aboput what you want to do and how being at MIT is going
to help you do it.
I'm a senior. The only reason I'm still here is because I'm a senior, and
it seems like an utter waste of three years of MIT hassle, MIT tuition, and
MIT stress to come out with anything less than an MIT degree. If I'd
realized during my freshman or sophomore year that the name "MIT" on my
degree would cost so much (stress, mostly), I'd have transferred, and I
think I'd be more satisfied now if I had. Particularly if I'd stayed in
Boston so I could maintain at least some of the friendships I've made here.
I'm not saying you should transfer -- I don't even know you. But you do.
You're the one who will need to survive till you graduate, and you're the
one who will reap the rewards afterwards. Are the rewards worth the hassle
and the stress? For some -- maybe even most, I don't know -- they are. For
others, they just aren't. Take the time to give it some real thought.
Now, while you can still turn back. (1/2 :-)
