The few times I have trouble falling asleep is usually caused by an immense
amount of stress, in which case I either
Get back up and do something about it (ala what Martha said), or
Get up, stretch and/or meditate (ala what Beth said) -- i do either
simple calisthenics or a grounding exercise.
I usually conk out within an hour, which isn't too bad. Occasionally i'll
resort to a hot shower (muscle relaxer), but that doesn't work so well for
me, because then my dripping wet hair keeps me up all night... ;)
