Re: Writing

Writing has a kind of inertia to it, and if there's any opposing forces
(like a deadline, or pressure to produce a good story) then it becomes
much harder. (sorry for the mechanics analogy)

I have a notebook I carry all the time in my backpack, so I get down some
of the ideas, though I really don't find that ideas are what make a good
story good; it's the reaction I have to an ideas, because that reaction
overcomes the inertia (basically what Beth said. random writing helps
get you going even if you're writing something else). I've done a lot
better and have enjoyed writing more when I just write about something
than when I plan what I write.

deadlines don't help, though. sigh.

(there's a writing discussion meeting on bloom-picayune:/usr/spool/discuss/writng,
by the way. *plug plug plug*)
