I found that while I was at MIT, the same thing happened to me. And like
Beth, I made an effort to stay involved with things like MITG&SP and stuff
like that. I also took an art class (4.301), which gave me an Official
Good Reason to go play with clay and chalk and paint and Photoshop. I
guess I needed to rationalize the time I put into creative things by taking
a class that required it. (Kind of sad, now that I thinkabout it... but
it was fun anyway... :-)
Once I got out of MIT and had time on my hands, I started going back and
doing things that I used to like doing (like calligraphy, guitar, etc.).
So MIT's effect wasn't permanent. I hope you find that's true with you
too.
(Beth, I'd like to know more about that book too, if you find the author...)
