Houston? sir, did you say Houston?

My favorite thing about the Houston climate (I spent a year in Huntsville
one summer, with occasional trips to the big city) is all the heavy metals
and smog and oil toxins in the air.

Everytime I went to Houston I immediately felt like I'd entered a smoky
bar in hell. It the hot humid air didn't look as dang erous as, say, L.A.,
but I started dripping and sneezing from the time I arrived to an hour
after I left. Every time. It's the only city in America I was ever
allergic to.

That was during the Boom years. I drove thru again a couple of years ago,
once all the money had gone Boom and evaporated. It wasn't as bad.
A whole regional economy goes down the tubes, and the air gets _better_.

I'm not sure if that's depressing or what.
