Well, the December storm dumped about 5 inches of precip in 24 hours (the
last inch or so was snow; we had 10-15 inches in the metro area, lots more
to the west).  And when I lived in Houston I once saw somewhere in the 6-10
inch range (rain) in 6 hours; that WAS a mess.  A one inch rainstorm in a
day or so really isn't a big deal.
