I've just clipped out an Associated Press article from my local paper,
headlined "Parents steal gifts collected for kids." The gist of the
article is: "Before the pupils arrived at about 9 a.m., about 30 parents
at a meeting offered to help Taylor inventory the presents in the school's
auditorium, Chicago police Sgt. James Hanson said. While the parents were
arranging the bags of gifts by grade and room number, they started unwrapping
and taking what they wanted, Taylor said." Later, they mention, "Some
parents discarded gifts in the street, Hanson said. He said he saw three
pairs of pants--the bottom halves of uniforms that had been donated
for the children--in the school yard."
It's good to see a glimpse of what Christmas is really about in this modern
world. Have a good one.
