Actually, the formal name is the "Brown Recluse" (also known as
the "Fiddler" spider). The bite doesn't *have* to be fatal, but it is very
bad without treatment, and can cause permanent scarring and possible
death if not treated.
The Brown Recluse is mostly dark brown. It's cephalothorax (the
front part of the arachnid) is light brown, with a dark brown fiddle.
These guys are about 3x as bad as a Black widow.
