People are also not terribly good about valid directions. I
had just crossed at 77 mass ave with a friend when someone pulled up
and asked how to get to comm ave (or something obvious like that.) My
friend's immediate response: "you could start by going back to boston..."
I think he didn't realize until later quite how nasty that sounded...
