I have witnessed a number of strangers dying, and the worst part was that I
felt like there was something that I should be saying or thinking, and nothing
would come. For a while I was upset at myself for not being upset when I see
a stranger die, but after a little I realized that this was a defense
mechanism.
You can't let yourself get personally involved when something like that
happens, if it is a friend it is one thing, but if a stranger dies in your
presence, and you have done everything that you could've (if there was
anything at all you could have done), you just let it go. Otherwisae it will
eat at you and haunt you for a long time.
Part of the problem is that when it is a stranger, you start filling in
details that you do not know, and you end up filling those details in with
those of someone you know and are close to. Once you start doing this, you
start treating the persons death like you would the person who they are
'emulating'
jik: Be careful, and if you find your self doing this and not being able to
stop, seek help (not necessarily professional) , because if dealt with wrong
something like this can screw you up for a long time
