it's such a treat to find out that the 5.11 exam i've spent a fair portion of iap studying for has an average success rate on the order of 20%.  "But if you fail, it's no big deal, is it?" 

That would be the case if I hadn't studied for it.  As is, I'd wind up in effect taking the class twice.  This is just wrong.  And I don't think I'd get anything out of taking the class; I think I really understand the material.  So more or less, if I do fail it, it means I will have to take a class I already know instead of the class I really am looking forward to taking (18.100B; don't shoot me, please :-), and it means I will have wasted several dozen hours of good punt-time during IAP.  

Ick; I wish I knew what to study better.
