all my life's a circle

Lately it seems if I have spent all my time dancing in a circle with
one particular person. We spin around and around, our eyes always
fixed on each other, coming closer and closer. Then, just as our
fingertips brush one of us recoils, and violently pushes the other
away. Then, like electrons orbiting an atom, we continue to circle,
swinging back towards each other once more to repeat the same
desperate dance.

Things are never the same, so maybe we are dancing in a spiral, not a
circle. But is it a spiral going out, or in? And which is better --
to dance away from each other to gain distance and loneliness, or
towards each other, for passion (and perhaps) self-destruction?
