A very good friend of mine just had a baby. I wish I could call her to congratulate her, catch up on things, etc. The problem is that if her mother answers the phone she will hang up on me, and, even worse, she would then know that my friend and I have continued to keep in touch over the past few years. I guess I'll just have to resort to a letter . . . sigh.
