Well, you certainly have enough things to be upset about; my childhood
was only a fraction as bad as yours, and I was depressed for quite a
while until enough good friends and antidepressents helped me out of
it all.
Be glad that you can cry, and maybe even that your still alive; where
there's life, there's hope. That may sound trite, but it's absolutely
true. As long as you're alive, there's a good chance you'll find some
way out of your mess. I certainly felt hopeless for years on end, but
I eventually worked it out well enough (I'm almost 30 now, and it did
take a long time).
I recently found a book that I haven't read yet, but that looks good
and very apropos to you: _Toxic Parents: Overcoming Their Hurtful
Legacy and Reclaming Your Life_, by Dr. Susan Forward. I also
recommend _Feeling Good_ (ok, the title and warm friendly yellow cover
may be a bit much) by David D. Burns, which is a good popularization of
cognitive therapy, and also has a very good section on
anti-depressants (although I don't know if it's been updated for
Prozac; then again, I'm not sure you should take that drug, for it
seems to turn some depressed people into beserk maniacs, like the guy
who killed many people in that Louiville, KY printer. Definately a
drug to be used with caution).
