I know Jeff Nanis rather well, and believe me his laws of
Socio-Dynamics are very true (not even exaggerated) in his
case. He is a good example of an MIT male who tries too
hard, and therefore makes it nearly impossible for himself
to succeed. I only know one other person who makes his own
luck that bad.
What this all means is that if you try too hard, you get nowhere.
If you don't try at all, you probably won't do much better, and
if you try a moderate amount you'll probably end up with a
stereotypical S.O. who will drive you up the wall.
Depressing, isn't it?
