i have no trouble dealing with mine, either; i simply don't.
i've made this very easy: my father's dead <and even when he was
alive, we maybe spoke five words to each other since i turned
sixteen>, and my mother died when i was very young, and my step-mother
has remarried and i can't stand her new husband (who, in turn, seems
to have trouble dealing with me, but since he wears @i[Brut] i try to
avoid him whenever possible).
when i do deal with what's left of my family; it's on my terms. they
don't know where i live (as far as they know, i live at the post
office).
