What is meant by "take care of"?
My original question still stands.... should we just delete the
thesis templates in the sipb locker, or update them?
I would opt for deletion, because they are only of interest to MIT
people anyway (they are, after all, MIT thesis templates), so the
argument about non-MIT sites using the sipb locker doesn't hold, and
because it would be a pain to try to keep them in sync with changes to
the thesis locker.

P.S. By the way, the resume templates used to be in /usr/unsupported,
but now that that's gone away, I think we're the only source for them,
so they're probably even more important.
