idraw exits on bad printer

What happened: I was running idraw on "oliver" (vax) out of /mit/sipb/vaxbin/idraw and used control-P to print. The command I gave (a wild guess, really)
was
lpr -Psipb
(what can I say? I couldn't remember the name of the printer in the sipb
office.) The result was that idraw exited and I got this message back:
lpr: sipb: sipb: unknown printer
What should have happened: idraw should have complained at me, but not
exited.
Just a small problem in an incredibly useful program!
