pine-imap: can't access subfolders

Hi there,
I have a strange problem: I can't view the contents of my IMAP subfolders
from within pine-imap. I can view them just fine from other mail programs,
such as Netscape and Mozilla. The strange part is that everything seems to
be configured properly, since I can move messages into folders just fine
using pine-imap. I even get the entire correct list of folders, but if I
open one, it just looks empty no matter what. Any ideas as to what could
be causing this?
