alice-whacker is running athena 9.0.18, which includes an earlier
version of libc than pickled-herring at 9.0.24 (2.2.2 versus 2.2.4).
Without knowing more about the status of linux athena installations, I'd
have to suggest ``alice-whacker is out of date; update it''.
Pickled-herring was suggested to me as a good candidate `build machine'
for athena linux; should I be using something else instead?
