Because scanning your inbox can be slow, exmh keeps a cache of the results
of previous scans.  Its default setting is to rescan only the last 200
messages in your folder.

One of the "More.." menus on the main screen has an entry that instructs
exmh to Rescan the current folder.  Try using that.

(My memory is that 1500 messages could require a minute or three for the
scan to finish.  Be patient.)
