I recently left the job which had been providing me a more up-to-date
notebook computer, and we have had to fall back to our old 1994 vintage
notebook PC with its PCMCIA 2400/9600 modem while traveling. We tried to
log into 617-258-7096, but each time after getting the connection, at the
point where my intuition says it was doing the baud rate check, it would
switch off the modem and the screen would report "NO CARRIER". Is it the
case that Athena does not support baud rates that low any longer? Is there
any dial-in number which does?
