Could you be more specific about what was removed?
Currently there's no bin directory in
/afs/sipb.mit.edu/project/sipb/machtype/vax, and I know there was a
bin directory there as of the middle of last week, if not later.
I know this because I had been relying on programs stored there.
It seems that your mail was perhaps referring only to changes in
directories under /afs/athena/contrib/sipb, so it may be unrelated to
the problem I'm noticing now, but in any case I believe it's
completely unreasonable to entirely remove programs from under
/afs/sipb/project/sipb without some warning a while in advance.
Also, if anyone knows of a way to get these programs back that
involves less effort than restoring the volume from an AFS backup
tape, let me know. (I think that rebuilding them and restoring an old
copy of the volume involve about the same amount of extra work.)
