In the old sipb locker, /mit/sipb/lib/tex/macros is a symlink into the
newtex locker. I'm happy to get the impression that this stuff is
being maintained somewhat, but I'm unconvinced that the newtex locker
is a better place for it then the sipb locker, because:
- People still reference the files through /mit/sipb.
- People are probably more likely to have sipb attached than newtex.
- Some of the tex files (like tgrind*) are installed with programs in
the sipb locker.
- In the future (and past), Sipb members not involved with newtex may
want to make tex macro packages available. That is, historically,
a collection of tex macros have been a part of the sipb locker and I
don't see a good reason to change that.
So anyway, I copied the files (not the symlinks) to
/mit/sipb/share/tex/macros in the new sipb locker. I also copied over
the tex/fonts directory. I did not copy over the tex/ps or tex/new
directories since they didn't contain anything that's not part of
/usr/athena/bin/tex.
Then, I created a bunch of backwards compatability symlinks so that
people can still still reference the files through /mit/sipb/lib/tex.
These symlinks are ugly and may become a tiny pain-in-the-neck in the
future, so we should probably do something about recommending people
use /mit/sipb/share/tex...
