the only argument I can see for splitting it is
manageability.. so far, I haven't heard people complain (except for
jhawk). It is already subdevided into build-per-platform and
source, which is a clean division. All others seem more like ideas
for new lockers (news/ editors/ etc) or a completely random and
not useful division.
I would suggest people actually clean up in there, especially since
there are a LOT of different versions of the same program (like expect).
Also, either have the tar file of the directory, or the directory.. but
not both.
