Hello,
I am the network manager for LEES. In addition to other equipment, we
we have a couple of Athena private workstations (10-026-1,10-093-1) located
here in the lab.
When trying to access news in the SIPB locker, xrn aborts with
"The news server is not responding correctly" and "Note: This machine does not
have permission to post articles. Please don't waste your time trying."
rrn will start up and list unread articles in various groups, but will not
retrieve any. When attempting to read an article it respnds
"rrn: server response to group XXXX : 502 You only have permission to
transfer, sorry."
Is there a data base we need to be added to? Telneting from these machines
to dialup(2) and using rrn works fine, but increases the loads on these
public machines. (Xserver will not accept DISPLAY = 10-026-1 when logging in
to these machines. The error message here is something like '... server not
allowed to connect to host 10-026-1.mit.edu ....' )
Anything you can do to clear this up would be appreciated...
